Following comments from some responders to our patient survey we would like to explain the reason we ask reception staff to do this.
We have asked reception staff to find out the reason you are requesting an appointment, phone call or visit – so we can allocate you to the clinician best suited to deal with your request. This may be a nurse or doctor, depending on your answer.
This will save you time also, as if you are allocated to the wrong clinician you may have to make another appointment to see the correct person.
We have a nurse at the surgery that is trained to deal with minor illnesses and can prescribe medication.
Remember, the reception staff are asking questions in order to allocate you wisely.
